hi guys , id like to upgrade my front rotor from a 160mm to a 203mm but cant seem to find the specks on the fork to see if it would fit , looks like it would , but wanna no what you guys think ??
Clearing the rubber boot will be the potential issue.
I assume you are doing this on a 140mm Lefty?
hi ya na its only a 100mm lefty , thats whats got me to think it wont fit , though it looks like it will
I would have thought 180/183/185mm would be enough then?
It's what I run on my 100mm Lefty/XC set up and I am not the lightest bloke. 8)
He's not actually, this is true.

Might be in the manual here, if you know your exact model:

been running a 203 rotor on my Lefty for months & it's been ok. Mine's a 2010 Carbon Ultra 120 converted to 29er
I run a 180mm on mine. I upped from the 160mm std last year. No probs what so ever and not too sure why you want to go any bigger.
I changed the whole brake setup at the same time. The only issue I had was the holes for the rotors. I think mine had 4 holes and the rotor I bought had 6, but 2 fitted perfectly and the other two I had to dill/expand the hole to get it to fit. Funny cos the rear was a 6hole.. which was confusing at the time but hey ho, 180's I have been running.
Oh, no probs from the gaitor at all.
I had a 203mm hope rotor on my Prophet for ages! I couldn't workout why I was going through front wheel hub bearing! 😳
After further investigations, I also noticed that I had managed to elongate the holes in the fork that held the front brake on and had to pack it with stainless washers to keep the brake straight. Not a good idea, I know and even Cannondale would tell you that 203mm on a lefty is too big. I changed it to a 183mm rotor, but if you want to buy a 203mm floating hope rotor, then I have one.
Are there any issue that should be noted when buying an adapter to up the disc size? Got my lefty max being 'serviced' and am think of upping the disc size on return.
tk46hal, your not the only heavy handed ****, I've done that to the disc tab's too (surprisingly easily), on one of my lefty's
(have had Tony swap it over to my 'spare' though).

Holey moley. This has to be a wind up surely?
Coda 4 bolt to 6 bolt IS via a drill 😆
Are you sure you need a 200mm disc? 180 is a lot more stopping power than a 160 anyway.
Either way, check the gaiter carefully to make sure it clears the rotor when the fork is fully compressed. The gaiter on my GF's hardtail looked like it would be ok with a 185mm rotor (110mm Lefty) but wasn't. Cue slit open gaiter and no front brake to speak of as the fork sprayed the rotor with enough of a mist of grease/ oil to contaminate the brake.
It's gaffer taped up until she gets it to Thumbprint for some lovin' - seems to be OK like that.
200mm disc works fine on a 140mm Lefty Max though.
thanks for all the info and ideas , the only reason im going bigger is iv always had the 203 rotor on near on all of my other bikes , n the 160mm on the cannondale is not man enough seems to me on the 100mm travel lefty 180mm rotor would be the safe bet
Hahaha, yes I drilled the rotor out to accept the six bolts, beleive me it was so easy to do and there was more than enough solid metal on the rotor for me to feel confident in doing it. It's been sweet as since and with some cracking new pads on it I've had no issues with it at all,
The rotor inner (not the outer brake surface area) isn't hardened see, so provided you've enough metal there to drill through it's fine. I'm not the only one to do it.
Anyway that 4 hole single sided hub thing is hard to get rotors for.
Invention/mother/cure.
Hope will make you some... @ a price.
I was lucky, when a m8 needed one, i stumbled over a coda 180mm for £1 @ a halfords clear out
done my research and my lefty (speed pbr 100mm) will take an 8inch rotor due to the tapered boot , been told the cleansweep g3 is a good rotor?
Rotor's are much of a muchness is most cases.
If you like the G3 rotors buy them, but I've never heard anyone describe any rotor a 'good' for any reason other than weight or look.
The last rotor I bought was the cheapest I could find....
