I have got a Cannondale frame, 26 in medium, some disc 29 er wheels going spare soon, a lovely Thomson 1.5 stem and but forks. I want to build it up for my daugher as a light rat bike and get her cycling.

So will the wheels fit with skinny tyres? And what forks, rigid if possible and can you get a 1.5 steerer? The forks need to be in proportion to the beer can tube size!

Cheers in advance

I've fit 700c wheels & road tyres in a 26" frame but it was tight

I'd imagine finding a 1.5 steerer fork would be harder & more expensive than a new stem and an adaptor for a normal headset

yep I know! i wish someone would do an adaptor, there is a 1 to 1/1/8 out there.

wheels; I may have to stump up for some 26 ers, but its worth a shot

any thoughts on Surly's they look nice and chunky.

I love my Surly Cross Check which has been built up to suit several different applications but it's not light.
