Im not going to describe exactly where it is, but it must have been closed for a reason, but I don't know why

Part way round the Reds at Cannock there is heavily stickmanned purpose built mtb descent, the start of which is not immediately obvious, it takes a bit of scouting to find

I've walked* it and don't know why there would have been a trail built for it then to be closed off?
Its covered in sticks to make it not worthwhile riding (its clear nobody does), though without sticks it would appear it would transform that part of the loop into the complete loop it should be and would remove an off-piste erosion issue elsewhere imo

*Granted this was over a year ago now, but on my last visit on the bike, that part of the woodland still hadn't been logged/etc or anything like that

Is there a little bit of woodwork on it... 😉
I think I know where you mean. Rode past the start last week.
It was open once, we rode it a couple of times, then it was shut off, & has been since.
Bit odd, but I'm sure Chase Trails have a good reason.

^ if it's that bit on the Monkey then I think they started building it, it was pretty much finished when FC announced they would be thinning that area so it never opened, the works was done by FC and I guess chase trails have been too busy on other sections/repairs
There used to be some very good cheeky bits in that area too but the thinning work wiped them out

There's a section on the Monkey which will eventually cut out some nasty fire road. IIRC construction started on it along with the rest of the Monkey back in 2009/2010, but various things have stopped it from being opened (harvesting, environmental concerns with wildlife, the FC wanting some parts changed, not enough volunteers and priorities changing, etc). Hopefully it should be open in the next few months.

Maybe, depends on where you mean by the bombhole?

That's where i was thinking.I'm sure Stuart put something about it on here 3 or 4 weeks ago.

EDIT
Yep, just found it -

there are still issues behind the scenes that are stopping the new Fiveways section from being launched. Our XC builders continue to push on this and hopefully it'll be sorted soon. There's nothing sinister going on just stuff that needs to be sorted. The section will open, it's just a case of being patient for a while longer.
