Why ? I couldn't think of anything worse than continously having to peddle a a bike round some where ?

It's surely not enjoyable ?

@ discoduck- think you may be thinking of fixed wheel? Cannock on a fixed is a whole different experience!

Ah, yes sorry ! Was thinking of our pool bike that we had in London, that was a fixie, bloody nightmare to ride !

Every time I see a Single speed I think about my old commute on that orrid thing, I just thought that all SS bikes had to be peddled all the time, 😳

Slightly embarrassed by that !

That first hill with switchbacks over the road up the monkey will be fun, likewise kitbag hill. Enjoy!!

Perfect for ss.

Like jekkyl said that first switchback climb on the monkey will be quite loose in this weather, but as long as you gurn plenty you'll get up it.

Enjoy

@ discoduck I've actually tried fixed off road. A lot of fun when you're on your own as it's a different challenge but personally prefer SS when riding in groups as it means I can actually keep up down hills!

It's not a problem on a 29er single speed running 33x20 gearing. Have fun, and enjoy chuckling at those stuck in the past on 26" wheels and gears 😉

Amazingly, of all the mountain bike races I've ever won, half of them were at Cannock on a Singlespeed.

Indeed. They're still smarting about that series loss. Could be a little tetchy. Especially their captain.
