Visiting family in Stafford this weekend, would anybody be able to tell me if the Monkey and Dog are both open please as thinking of taking the bike, haven't been since way before lockdown and think there were quite a few bits closed then?
Don't bother all the gud stuff is closed and has been closed all year , think they have given up to be honest ,best bet is to ask someone to show you off pieste trails as their is more of that and pretty good too
It depends what you mean by "gud". I was there mid-July and the majority of both Monkey and Dog trails were open. For a couple of plodders like my friend and I who wanted to turn up and ride a way marked trail on a sunny day it was fine.
I went there a couple weeks ago, the dog was all open. There is a section on the monkey called the original monkey which has been closed for a long time but even with this diversion overall it still has a good ratio single track to fireroad, final 3 descents were all open.
I was there a few weeks ago and a section of the Monkey was shut. Did on a gravel bike - climbs were great, the very uneven braking ruts on many of the descents were hard work. Back was aching at the end of it. Fun though.
If you're visiting Stafford and got time for a ride, give it go. Most of it's open as far as I understand.
