Heading up to Cannock Chase for a day out on monday from Suffolk but don't fancy an early hours slog on the roads, looking at booking rooms at the Travelodge Rugeley. It doesn't seem too far away. Am I correct in assuming this?

Thanks

Yes, it's very close, rideable in fact. Have fun in Rugeley 😯 (Rouge-ly, like Moulin Rouge in case you were wondering)

5 minute drive if that. Pretty much opposite is the Heritage Trail which you could ride straight to the trail center bit and pick up the man made stuff. Rugeley isnt quite the best place to spend a night...

Try the Premier Inn in Lichfield just as cheap! and they let you take clean bikes in the room!

Rugeley is definitely closer than Lichfield.

If Premier Inn do let you take bikes in (I know they do at Bike Park Wales, but didn't know that applied elsewhere) then there's a Premier Inn in Rugeley, which is probably about the same distance to the trails - but is a bit further out of town (pub and McDonalds next door)

I stopped at the same place a few years back for a trip to Cannock. Town centre was interesting on a night time, IIRC I had breakfast at the KFC or little chef next door? Memory is fuzzy.
It was handy though only 10 mins up the road in the car

There's a guest house in Slitting Mill that's closer, called Willow End.
Literally roll across the road & your on the trails.
Probably not cost much more.
Nice pub as well, The Horns.
