Hi all
Have some crimble money left over and was wondering if this was a good idea, I ride a litespeed niota v3 and with a fox air shock (rp32 I think) and was wondering if a upgrade to a cane creek double barrel would work and be a good move, talking of moving I'm going to be a lucky sod and my local trails will be the seven stains as I'm moving to the Dumfries area of Scotland, will the bike shock be a good combo?
depends on whether your current shock is under performing for your requirements.
the ccdb is a technical shock, and it's taken me a long time to eventually have the shock dialled in and tuned to my riding and frame requirements.
be prepared as it's definitely not fit and forget.......
As TLR says, the CCDB is incredibly adjustable and therefore easy to get horribly wrong. Having said that, I found Malcolm at Cane Creek incredibly helpful in giving me settings specific to the bike (a DW 5-Spot) that seemed pretty much spot-on to me. As such, swapping an RP23 for the CCDB was an incredible upgrade - was like riding with a rear tyre that was 50% bigger was the best way I found to describe it!
Are you an aggressive rider who can feel the limitations of an air shock?
are you a well built chap?
It strikes me that the litespeed is more of a mile muncher than an aggressive decender and it might not suit you and the bike.
I would be careful, its supposed to be an incredible bit of kit but it takes a bit of tuning and its only really going to be a game changer for you if you are feeling the limits of your rp23.
@HEIHEI - would you not have saved a fortune by buying a bigger tyre then 🙂
Hi all
Titusrider, well I'm 6'4" and do tend to charge though things rather the finess my way around, as to feeling the limits of the rp23 I've only been riding soft tails for a year and still stand and use my legs to soak up bumps but I don't seem to find at if I adjust the fox (blue rebound valve) that it makes much of a difference to the feel of the bike (the pro pedal levers holds the shock while going up) so is it me being unsenative and unuse to a supenion bike or am I asking to much of the fox. To be honest thinking of going back to a hard tail bike, only got the litespeed cause of bike insurance payout and not being able to find the right hard tail locally.
Rebound adjust on Fox shocks is the red dial. The blue lever controls how much pro pedal damping applies.
ive only ever seen one in the flesh, and the bloke got bucked highside off his bike on a flat corner.
he wasnt sure how to index his gears properly, so i think the shock was fitted and forgottne?
hilarious.
Sorry if I'm get numbers and colours mixed up bit it's been a while since I've riden my bike, I broke my ankle seven weeks back and have only just got plaster off and have yet to make it as far as the bike shed
Ouch, was just making sure you wern't twiddling the wrong knob!

Reminds me of putting an Ohlins shock in the motorbike. All that adjustment means there's still only one perfect setting but about 10 million wrong ones
northwind has it - needs an element of understanding and know-how to properly set up.
not for the impatient ime.
