Heading out to the Dolomites in the summer going to be in Canazei anyone ever ridden around here?
I know the ews is being held there this summer so should have something any first hand experience?
Our daughter had a few days riding with her mates last year between Petzen and La Thuile EWS rounds and really rated it. Going back for a week for the EWS this year.
Have been to that area a few times over the years, both climbing and biking. Slightly odd access rules for bikes in some valleys/side valleys around there, and I can't remember which one is the main problem area. Canazei isi more rock climbing focussed FWIR. Val Gardens isn't too far from Canazei, and there's a lift and nice 'enduro' style trail there. Also decent bike shop for route advice.
I can recommend the Sella Ronda MTB route. I hired a guide through the hotel and it was only 70 Euro for the day Inc lift pass. The guide put together custom gravity/enduro version of the Ronda. To encourage use of guides, the tourist office subsidises lift passes for guides clients, so v cost effective to use guide. We used at least 5 separate lifts, did about 800m pedalled ascent, and about 4500m descent.
If you're not fixed at Canazei, there's loads of good stuff over at Kronplatz and Pustertal area.
