British Waterways are looking for volunteers to report on the condition of its towpaths and any obstructions to access.

"This will provide valuable information for people with restricted mobility, as well as families with buggies, cyclists and other towpath users."

Yes. There's restrictions on towpaths near my home - they don't bloody well allow bikes on them!

The only restriction on the one between Northampton and Milton Keynes is the amount of hawthorns that will puncture anything and everything making it unridable.

BW dont own canals in London iirc hence the restriction there i assume.
Lazy sods they have pound wardens whose job it is to do this and BW staff make council workers look like they are hard working.
No thanks extortionate fees for boats these days as well BOOOO tp BW and all they stand for
If you do tell them of a restriction they wont do anything anyway so i used to just cut all the treees myself when they fell across the path when I lived on my boat - free woood and a service to the community
That said the canals are a national park.
