I've managed to round off two bolts from my Mondraker Foxy XR 2015 frame (the black carbon one with goldy bits) and I am loathed to pay the extortionate amount Mondraker want me to pay them plus I think this is a bit of a challenge STW may enjoy. Firstly people coming together against having to pay crazy prices for tiny 'simple' components for bikes (i've seen plenty people complain about that on here and other sites), secondly some internet scouring and potentially thirdly a little bit of engineering.

The first bolt will cost me £37 as I must buy a set of 2 and the 2nd bolt £16. I think we can either find something that will fit elsewhere online or we could even manufacture our own for that price!

Bolt 1 - Is the lower shock mount bolt, it is an allen key head, 40mm long, M10 and (the hard part) has a thread pitch of 1mm.

Bolt 2 - Is the lower linkage connecting to front triangle bolt, allen key head, 70mm long, M10 and also 1mm thread pitch.

The hard bit seems to be finding an M10 bolt with a fine 1mm thread pitch, usually they are 1.5mm or sometimes 1.25mm. Bolt 1 looks like it can just be a standard bolt and screw straight in whereas bolt 2 might need a little go on the lathe to create that chamfered edge on the bolt head however I should be able to do that. Bolt 2 also has that fancy chamfer in the middle but it doesn't need to have it, it just seems to be a weight saving attempt? So this can just be a straight 70mm bolt like bolt 1.

So does anyone know anywhere I could source such bolts online?

I'd have thought that Mondraker themselves would be the place to start -  https://www.mondraker.com/es/en/spare-parts  - it looks like they're pretty good with spares although I'm not sure how you'd order/source them.

I think that your bolts are shown here -

Bedfo - Thanks but they don't seem to have the correct size/thread pitch that I need listed on the site. I'll send them an email and see if they can do it anyway.

Crogthomas - Cheers, i'll contact them and ask also!

Pjay - Not sure if you read the whole post?

No worries, thank you anyway :). Those prices I found are from the Silverfish UK website who do stock all the spares needed for Mondraker frames, that will be the last resort I suppose. At least I know they're available.

How do the cap sizes on your bolts compare to the standard cap size for an M10? Looks like yours might be a little smaller than standard. Might need to machine the caps down if they have to fit into a counterbore or recess.

Are you sure the reduced shank diameter in the middle of the longer one isn't necessary?

Presume you want these in stainless steel?

Finally, any standard socket cap will probably have threads all the way up to the cap, or at least it'll have a shorter length of plain shank than what you need. Does it matter if the shock bushes(?) are resting on threads rather than nicely machined plain shank?

I do wonder if you might need to do a bit of lathe work and thread tapping, depending on how good a match you want. I have a lathe and am happy to tinker if you send me some blanks.

At least I know they’re available.

Tis the joys of custom bolts unfortunately! Remember to buy some spares too as the mtb industry isn't exactly great at long term support
