[Closed] Can Shimano M520 pedals be serviced at all?

Yes its dead easy, just need the widget to unscrew the axle out of the body

once out clean up, pack some grease down in the pedal body and screw the axle back in. Any crud will be pushed out of the seals at the pedal thread end.

Ah.. does that widget have a name/code?

If they are old pedals, you'll never get enough grip on the plastic thingy to undo them; You can drill a small hole in the outer edge of the pedal, in line with the axle and use a grease gun to squirt grease in..

That plastic tool has worked fine for all my 520 pedals, some of which are getting pretty ancient now. They are servicable once you get them apart. the best bit is squirting grease into the pedal body and then watching all the gunk get squeezed out when you do it back up again...

Edit: - I put the plastic tool in a vice though and then unscrew the pedal - I agree that you can't do it by hand grip alone.
