You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Have not been biking properly for a couple of years and a run at Afan a few months ago ended up with my 55's fork seal going and oil running down the leg and onto the disc.
I have heard that these forks are known to have a problem so hoping someone knows what the possible problem is and if it is cheap to fix.
Is it just a simple fork seal or more serious?
Thanks for any info. looking to be armed with all the info before taking to the bike shop as a last resort.
Cheers

I don't know which 2008 55 you've got but the ones with travel adjust had a shocking record for reliability. Mine ended up having new 2008 internals that failed again and then new 2009 internals which have been fine ever since.
Great fork once sorted so worth investing in.
The problems are with the carts inside. If the fork worked before the seal popped then replacing the seals will bring them back in line with a full service.
