The real stuff isn't that expensive, just buy the correct stuff
Immediate need, it's what I have. Err, he has.
no
get the propper stuff.
Oil is oil surely?
Such as when you're 100 miles into a dry dusty road ride and your chain is dry and grating, dripping some olive oil from your lunch on to it as a lube to see you through the rest of the ride.
Obviously it is best to use the correct stuff, but when needs must you have to improvise.
clipper oil will most likely be vegetable based so itll gumm up eventually
if you have the forks apart, you will have new fork oil, just use this? clipper oil will be very thin and won't continue to lube the seal i would expect.
Oil is oil surely?
Noooo!!!
For example, differential oil for cars has additives that can damage brass synchronesh rings in gearboxes, even though the two seem superficially similar. I would not put anything except proper fork oil in a fork just to be safe. Chains are different, they're just made of steel and don't have any seals or other delicate parts.

Try cooking your breakfast in heavy fuel oil then answer that!
Oil is oil.....😎
Just use the fork oil.
No way to thin for starters, although the have been known to use thin veg oil on my clippers...
The stuff my clipper came with says mineral oil, so I doubt it's a good idea.
Ah well. I couldn't even get the fork lowers off to consider using it - clearly not the best idea tho.
So how do you get the lowers off Revelation OEM forks - the damping adjuster doesn't seem to be removable 🤔
the red rebound one just pulls off.
Can’t get the red knob off, wants to use hair clipper oil. You are the guy shop mechanics fear!

Likely not, with the new forum improvements he likely posted it at the correct time, and of the 15th time of asking it actually posted 24hrs into the future.
KY Jelly is an excellent substitute for seal grease.
You leave my pet seal out of this
youtube is your best bet for a how to guide.

The only problem being is that after a while the oil heats up and smells like lunch is cooking....
Re. the rebound adjuster, if there's a grub screw on it you need to undo that first, if not as others have said it just pulls off. Can be quite tight (as you'd hope if you don't want it to fall off when you're riding).
I would say use the correct oil which you'll need to put in the lowers anyway, and follow the instructions (I prefer the manuals that you can download from the SRAM site to the vids). It might well be fine for the foam rings, but there are lots of fussy bits inside of a fork.
I genuinely use brunox deo fork spray on my clippers. #bikelife!
unless it's a euphemism, I've never "oiled my clippers"
will I, ... you know ?
