I lads just wanted to now if anyone has used a cx disc rim at 662x17 with a 2.1 29er tyre does it work or not the rim is a Alex cdx 26

It will work fine
Will give the tyre a slightly rounder profile than a wider rim would, and I would avoid going too large on the tyre, but a 2.1" on a 17mm internal width rim is fine.

yeah I ran wtb 2.4 an 2.4 tyres on mavic open pro rims for years without poblems, you will get a rounder tyre profile as pointed out
