29er and 700c rims are the same thing aren't they ?
I'm using 2.1" SB8s at the moment and reckon they are an ideal compromise between speed and grip.
Looking at these got me wondering if I could fit 700c32 tyres to Stan's Flow and Arch rims.
First of all, will they even fit ?
CX tyres generally run at much higher pressures than MTB tyres, so how would they be at the Stan's 45psi limit ?
I take it they would be a bit faster, with less drag and less weight, but what about grip ? Acceptable or hopeless ?
The pressure limit refers to the tubeless function. With a tube, you can go to whatever pressure the tyres says. I run 28mm gators on arch 29er rims. 32 mm will work on a flow but might be a bit flat in profile due to the rim width.
Cx tyres fit a treat on my 23.5mm wide rims DT X470
No bother ive got arches with 700x32 cross tires on my gary fisher rig the now !
Beats you up a bit though - mountain mayhem content ? Thought pat stopped that since his courses are always quagmires .....
arch ex with 35mm tyres at 60psi with no problems.
Thanks for the replies, so it's a goer then.
I thought the pressure limit was because of the lower depth of the rim. I want to stick with tubeless, so it's still going to be a limiting factor for me anyway.
It's just the aesthetics that bother me now. I've seen mountain bikes with skinny tyres and they just look wrong.
