I have an SLX chainset.
Never use the outer ring so in the name of saving 100g can I get some shorter chainring bolts to fit it?
Anyone know?

yes bolts are available in lengths for different ring combinations

Absolutely, just get some single ring bolts. Unless you want a bashring, then there'll potentially be a bit of headscratching to be done.
