I'm replacing most of my drive train and need new chainrings. I have long since removed the largest chainring so just use the middle (32) and inner (22) ones. It would be nice to replace my 32 ring with a 36 but I'm worried it might not shift like this if I also stick with 22 for the smaller ring. Does anyone know if it will be OK or will I have to stick with the sizes I have?

Thanks.

It's 9 speed if that makes any difference.

Thanks I found a few threads. I might just stick with the ratios I'm using now. It's not often I need to peddle faster. Maybe if I go into town along the road but I plan to be using another bike for that.
