Can anyone advise,

My free hub has too much play, but not sure if it can be changed, or need whole new hub/wheel.

It is a Sun ringle ryde 1.0 wheel set. hub marked the same.

If I can change what tool do I need as non of my standard size hex keys seem to fit?

Cheers

Not sure of the technical detail, but a mate had a similar issue with his and lbs told him it was a known fault so was fixed free of charge. I guess it depends on the age of bike etc, but might be worth talking to the shop where you got them.

Google seems to throw up plenty similar. If you can't get any joy with the retailer, I think it's hotlines that are the distributer.

Thanks for this, but don't think I can do warranty due to 2009 bike?

Check your warranty. CRC offer 2 years on the Sun equipped bike I bought from them.

My experience of Sun Freehubs (or at least theJumping Flea) is not good. Mine packed in after a few weeks then again after 6 months. CRC were very good and replaced under warranty but the third time it happened I told them enough was enough and they replaced with a Hope unit.

The JF hub uses a needle roller bearing on the outboard side and a small catridge bearing on the inside. The Hub is badly sealed from a UK conditions p.o.v and the needle bearing quickly gets contaminated. The biggest issue is that you cannot remove either of the bearings and you are forced to purchase an entire Freehub >£100. Ludicrous...
