Is there a knack to fitting a gx cassette onto a xd hub? I can't get the cassette tool to tighten it far enough down onto the hub?

I struggled but used plenty of grease as shown here and turned it tight. My torque wrench goes up beyond 25 so I tightened it to that and then some. Recommended is 40 I think. Need a good chain whip to get it back off mind...

Probably unrelated but but when I fitted my X1 cassette and Hope XD driver I had to file off about 2mm of material from the back of the 142mm end cap to stop it contacting the Freehub bearing when attatching the wheel to the bike. Before I did this, tightening the wheel into the dropouts caused the freehub to bind onto the endcap and not rotate backwards at all.

Never got to the bottom of why I had to do this - can only assume either the endcap or the freehub was out of tolerance since no one else seems to have encountered this issue?

@ndthornton - this was a known issue (and one I experienced!) with the original end cap and there is now a drive-side end cap available with a slightly different profile.

There's a specific end caps for the XD Driver, standard ones don't work. Hence my question above. Converted a set of hope wheels to 135x12 and fitted XD cassette during the week, the standard 135x12 cap needed filing too.

I find that you need to keep rotating the whole cassette (mine is a SRAM X1 XG-1180) until it feels like it's engaged and then tighten it up, be careful using lots of force to tighten it because when you try and remove it the splines tend to break!

I had the correct end cap - it came with the XD freehub. I compared it to the old one I took off, its slightly narrower to fit inside the 10T cog...but mine seemed to be too long, It fit easily inside the cassette but I had to file the back of it down to stop it rubbing on the freehub bearing
