so that i don't lose all the oil out of them. if anyone knows a good web guide that'd be great

If you take the seals out with the forks upside down surely you'll lose the oil anyway.
Also if you need to change the seals you will really need to change the oil, it's not too dear and a litre bottle will last for ages.
Just cleaned my seals and changed oil in about 20 mins.
Thanks Tim i probably will change the oil while i'm there have you got a guide or any instructions i can use? i've just bought these forks and don't want to mess it up
tim, did you take off the talas and rebound knobs etc at the top of the stanchions or did you just unscrew the bolts at the bottom of the lowers and remove the crown/steerer/stanchon assembly in tact?
