I had a look at the one Apple sell in store but the mount looks very flimsy and where the case attaches to the mount also looks as though it would come apart at the first bump.

This is the one Apple sell

Looks exactly the same as the Tigra one from Apple. The plastic mounts look very brittle

Surely the battery would die by the end of the ride?

I've got an Otterbox Defender. In fact I'm typing this reply through it! Not tried mounting it on the bike but it's a nice tough ruggedised housing for the phone itself. Not properly waterproof, but keep most dust and splashes out.

Mount your iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G on your bike's handlebars and stay connected at all times, no matter where the road takes you.

It sounds like a really good idea. When I go out on my bike I often feel like theres something missing, I get bored really quickly. Now I know why, I'm not connected at all times!

Even using the GPS I'll get 6-7 hours out of a full charge.

My wife destroys everything she owns, but the otterbox has managed to keep the iphone in good nick.

It definitely looks good. Only £22 from Amazon. Need to investigate a solid way of mounting it to the bike.

Magellan Toughcase is waterproof and has built in GPS and battery for increased accuracy and longevity.

Not yet available for iP4 though, only 3GS.

Personally, I'm holding out for this, the release version of which will be waterproof and include a battery. It's been a long time coming though.

Play some Stereo MCs at the same time as well and you're sorted.

What am I missing. The thing in Foxyriders pic plays musak - right? Is there a mini speaker kit for the bars too or do you ride around with your head / earphones connected to the bars?

The volume of the iPhone alone is just about enough most of the time. If it's windy I use BT headphones.

I recently had my 3GS replaced because of a few problems and the battery had always been crap from day 1. The replacement is a hundred times better. I can browse 3G for 4-5 hours now before the battery drops down to about 10%
