If possible basic and cheap(ish). Needs to be as large as possible for commuting by bmx.(paniers not an option) and needs to carry a number of locks, clothing, and other stuff with some extra capacity.. so larger is better..Had a look at a large DHB one I think on wiggle but wondered if there's much else.
Sorry not sure how many litres I require.. just know it needs to be large. Within reason the larger, the better.

thanks.

I have an old Chrome backbone that's so big my wife calls it 'the parachute' I use it for doing the weekly shop. the fact it's waterproof, versatile, and tough as old boots would make it ideal for everyday commuting if you want a seriously big backpack.

Not 'cheap', but if you're going to live out of this thing...

My version's on clearance now too, so they're not that extortionate: http://www.amazon.com/Chrome-Backbone-Messenger-Backpack-Stripe/dp/B003COC1NU

The current equivalent: http://www.chromebagsstore.com/bags/pro-series/warsaw---pro.html

How cheap is cheap? I bought a Jansport backpack like this from TK Maxx for £20, funnily enough for days when I commute by BMX. Mine's plain blue though, not checked.

Two main compartments and a pocket on the front, keeps locks seperate from clothes etc.

Have a look at the Alpkit Gourdon, very basic, relatively cheap and 100% waterproof.

I've got one of these:

Superb pack, I used it for 3 days of West Highland Way MTBing.

Jansport do some decent size ones, don't weigh a lot when empty either unlike some bags i've had in the past

Is 100 litres too large? Nookie do 50L, 80L and 100L; mine has worked well. Capacity, waterproofness, packed down size and price are good, comfort when carrying is OK provided you're careful what you pack next to your back, as it's not padded.
