Hi- have been offered this:

I can't seem to place the frame. Being told that it's a specialised stump jumper 2010. Looks like and FSR elite 2010 to me.

Can anyone shed some light on the situation?

It's a Stumpjumper.
A 2007 model by the looks of things.

It's been resprayed and definitely does not ride all the better for having been owned with a set of bombers.

I wouldn't trust anything designed for a single crown 130mm fork that's possibly been ragged senseless on a set of 180mm triple clamps, but that's my own opinion.

Put your running shoes on and head in the other direction.
That thing has been ragged.

Thought it might be a 2006 Stumpjumper FSR Pro - There's one here with the same geometry - http://anexbikes.blogspot.com/2010/05/2006-specialized-stumpjumper-fsr-pro.html

No, its different. That ones missing a 45 degree headangle and a 16.5inch high bottom bracket.

Why would you respray a frame that's only 12-18 months old?

For me, this answers the 'is the person trustworthy to buy off' question.

The 2007 elite had an XT chainset, that's a 2007 Comp. I'd avoid.

Of greater concern to the authenticity of the bike are the bloody triple clamp forks on an XC/Trail bike!

Run away.

Terribly fast.

Or amble up a hill - he'll never catch you riding that
