Hello,
I am hoping for a little advice on a bike for my four year old daughter. Having outgrown her balance bike (Ridgeback Scoot) she had a go on her cousins Specialized Hotrock this afternoon and has pretty much got the hang of it - now she needs a proper bike!

I am looking at a 16"

Specialized Hotrock
Ridgeback Melody
Islabikes CNOC

Is there one that anyone can recommend in particular, or are there others that would be worth a look? I am hoping to buy the bike second hand so pointers for sites other than ebay (am already looking on there) would be greatly appreciated. We are really keen to get her off to a good, confident start 🙂
Many Thanks
Kate

the for sale and wanted section here? (although most of the nicer kids 16" wheel bikes go for far too much S/H here)
Gumtree if you are prepared to wait for a bargain.

Where are you Kate? I've got a Ridge back Melody 16" that my daughters grown out of. Not great condition as its third hand by now, and previous owner used it with a tag along so paint is chipped in places. Mechanically its in good condition with some updated brake levers on it.

Got a lovely Giant Animator if you are near Brum. 25 quid to get it out of the garage?

I think that Islabikes sell, or can put you in touch with someone who sells, reconditioned second hand Islabikes.

If you are in the Swindon area I have a 16" hotrock in good condition.

Go for the Islabike. They do cost more but keep it in good fettle & you'll lose very little when you sell. There's a reason why they are so sought after...

Amazes me that some folk will spend thousands on their own bike(s), yet baulk at spend a fraction of that on something decent for their children.
