I have just got a new scout and the fox 36's come with a grip 1 damper.
Can anyone explain what the hell open, medium and firm actually means it does to the fork.
Have only ridden it on open but would like to know before i experiment too much
Cheers

Leave it at open. The other settings are pretty much pointless. I used them a lot for the first few months, and the open setting was best on all trails… so now I’ve stopped fiddling.

Fair enough. I was really planning on doing just that, but wondered if they did make any difference

Try it and see what difference you feel. You won't damage anything by using it. But yeah you'll probably just leave it in open always.

Just fanny about with it. It definitely performs best at "open", but with so little adjustability you might find that doesn't suit you

The grip 1 does make a difference with increased compression damping between open and locked.
If its 3 position then locked is well..locked. and medium is a more reliable than the fit4 medium.
You can also remove the 3 position keying and have a range between open and locked.
You can also alter the clocking to remove a full lock and have an even wider spread of adjustability.
