Been looking at a zero TR frame to replace my Dartmoor primal but unsure on sizing. I'm 5'11" so right on the cusp of M/L. Anyone similar height riding a bird able to let me know how they find it?

I've spoken to Bird and they've recommended Large but it seems significantly bigger than my primal. Unfortunately I'm in Stoke on Trent so too far away to arrange a test ride

I'm pretty much the same size and ride a medium. Very happy with it!

I went with the large, no regrets, I find the medium too small.

I am a shade over 5ft 10 and on a medium TR. I spoke to Ben at Bird and went through the dimensions of my other bikes and he advised to go for a medium with 40mm stem. It fits me very well. I am shortish leg (30.5)

Don't have a Bird Zero.

But sold my Dartmoor primal 27.5 as well.
Biggest problem I had with this bike: frame/ rear tire mud clearance

Sorry. No help with your question so..
😐

I have a Zero TR.
I'm 5'11"" and have always ridden a large frame. Wasn't sure so I spoke to Ben at Bird.
He was brilliant. Asked me what bikes I've had?, how I ride? and where I ride?
He reckoned a medium would be longer than any bike I've had. A long would maybe feel too weird for me.
The medium did feel a bit long at first, but it's amazing.
I've had a BFE and a Chameleon and it's way way better than both.
You won't be disappointed.
Bird are fantastic to deal with too.

Also 5' 11", and also on a medium Zero TR. Suits me perfectly. Felt long (having come from a 17" Soul), but it feels amazing to ride.

I also came from a medium Soul, and the medium Bird felt right from first ride. I had been struggling with the Soul even since getting a current geo Anthem, with the Soul feeling short, even though it had felt great for 3 years !

Unless you like really long reach bikes, then medium. I’m the same height and on a medium Zero AM which is shorter than the TR. For my local riding in notably twisty woods I sometimes think I’d be better off on a small!

Must be some really short legs on this thread, at five eleven on a large I had 170mm travel reverb with five inches of exposed seat post below, a medium would look even more silly.

Seems strange that I was recommended large when I enquired about hardtails and full suss from Bird.

I don't think its that strange Bagstard - d00ms recommendation was based on looking at the geo of his other bikes and what is liked/disliked. His current bike is smaller than our M and he didn't want to go that much bigger. Geo is personal - our L bike is bigger in the important dimensions than many companies XLs but people still ride those, there's no absolutes in bike sizing.

Who cares how much seatpost is exposed? As long as the seat tube can handle the leverage, there’s no downside - the lower the top tube the less it gets in the way when cornering, dismounting and crashing.

Also, if your statement is accurate then you have, no offence, freakishly long legs for your height. I have long legs and am approximately the same height and have less exposed with a 150mm Reverb on a medium with short cranks.

I wouldn't say freakish, but I am long limbed with a short body, I'm sure my big feet play a part in it too.

Anyway, regardless of size it is a fantastic bike! Mine was sold to fund my full suss, but I am seriously considering buying another.

You must be a toe pointy pedaller! Flats and dropped heels here. I have 34” legs FYI.

I have the proportions of an Orangutan i must presume, as my Large Bird Zero is fab. I'm 5.10 and have short legs for that height. But, my arms, we'll they're long. All my other bikes are large (Spesh stumpjumper and Enduro) and the bird feels right.

I do have a 125mm Reverb in there, and it's as low as it can go, so only just fits. My short legs are the issue there. I'm also running a 35mm stem.

Nope, flat pedals, neutral to heel down, mid foot placement, around the same leg length or slightly longer.
