When in use by a standard power bank?

I know that you can get this:

But just wondered if a power bank worked? Anyone tried

Just tried my diablo with my generic 20,000mah Anker powerbank and my Magicshine battery pack and no.

Both charge the light when powered off.

With my old Diablo I found that a USB powerbank would charge it, but not fast enough to keep up with discharge. So it will eventually run flat, then trickle charge when switched off.

Best option is to contact Smudge at MTB batteries for a support cell battery. He's doesn't list them as there are various options for number of cells, cable length, etc.

I used an Anker single cell power bank in place of the support cell before getting the support cell, it worked fine.

It'll eb due to some kind of switching when charging, like the old Garmin 500. You needed a kind of bypass in the cable that stops the device tuning off when a power source is plugged in.

I’ve powered mine on a ride with my power bank. It wasn’t a fancy pants one.
I know it was working as I got more than 20 minutes before the red light came on.

I’ve got one of those support cells which never gets used if you want one. Would let you have it for a £10 donation to Edale MRT…

@tuboflard I’ll take that deal if the OP doesn’t want it.

Sorry @jimmy748, @bikerevivesheffield picked it up this morning. There’s a double bonus as it’ll stop him getting benighted on a night ride if his Jostick dies so no need to call Edale MRT as well as the £10 he’s chucking in for them too. Happy days!
