it cant. the OD of the bearings aint much bigger than 20mm...

Nope.

The ID (bore) of the 6001 2RS bearing is 12mm; so bearing in mind that the OD is only 28mm...

Pro 2 bearings aren't much bigger. And yes, they can be a bit cack.

Who needs bushings? A few rounds of teflon tape should do the trick... 😉

You could probably convert to 15mm through axle ok, if you can find the right size bearings, but 20mm would be a squeeze.

ha ha. for all my jesting, my pro 2 does indeed feel like a hope xc with the bearings punched out and the axle just loose inside.. talk about play. the bearings last about 3 weeks for me...

You could probably convert to 15mm through axle ok, if you can find the right size bearings...

Good thinking; 6001 bearings are 12 x 28 x 8mm - 6902/61902 bearings are 15 x 28 x 7mm... 1mm thinner.
