Can anyone recommend a campsite with quiet, hilly road riding from the gate?

Ideally south England.

Fanku.

Near Ledbury, you can do a smashing ride out to the welsh border and back, including Gospel pass if you like, or around and about the lumpy lanes of Shropshire.

Not South England but South Wales.

Heritage Coast Campsite, Monknash

A lovely place to be, excellent riding all around, as evidenced by loads of roadies all over the place.  Also a fantastic pub just up the road and one of the best deserted beaches just a 20 minute walk away.

Going back there in September, usually get there 2 or 3 times a year.

Cheers guys.  Just ran them both through Google maps.  God the traffic is bad at the moment 🙀

They both look good though.

Also South (Mid) Wales - Erwlon outside Llandovery. Balck mountains to the south, Devils's Staircase to the north

There's a few little campsites within the South Downs national park

Lots of rolling hills but none have more than 600ft of climbing

Never realised until now that the Sustainability Centre between Old Winchester and Butser Hills has a small campsite.

I asked the same question on here a few years ago and was recommended the campsite in Porlock.

I went.

I liked it a lot.

(It is very hilly though)

🙂

I was just going to say Sparkhayes in Porlock myself - one of the few campsites I can tolerate these days, and great riding out the gate, both on and offroad.

Tom’s Field near Swanage. Not hilly hilly but the Purbeck Hills can make for a lumpy ride on quiet roads if you choose your route correctly.

There isn't any way out of it but up a hill and once your up that one there is another then another then another

It's just a small site but very nice with a fishing lake and big hut with basic facilities including a fridge which is useful. Lots of road rides to be found at  https://www.routeyou.com/en-gb/location/bike/47296517/cycling-in-painswick-overview-of-all-cycle-routes   many of which go right past the site.

Don't do the Government Communications HQ unless you want to find yourself on a gravel track that becomes a rock filled gully that becomes a rock filled stream! That was fun to push road bikes up.

Sorry for not acknowledging all the advice, I hadn't noticed all the updates.  Thank you all, that's really helpful.
