Morning all, stil not found accommodation for the Reiver next week. Has anyone had any luck with any spots to camp in a van near to the event?

Everything else is sorted. Apart from fitness obviously.

We dossed in the car park (well kipped under a tarp just in the woods) both the night before and the night after. We weren't the only ones! A lot were kipping in vans.

That's great @whitestone, thanks. Is it generally accepted or frowned upon? I'd be gutted to get set in for the night then be moved on. I need my beauty sleep.

I think it's "tolerated" because of the event. Someone from the FC came round early in the morning putting "please pay the parking fee" notes on cars, including ours 😒, but didn't complain about people dossing in cars.

Boxelder who posts on here is either the main organiser or helps a lot with it so he'll be much better placed to give you a definitive answer.

The observatory car park may be a possibility. The official timed start is by the car park.

Thanks both, I really appreciate it. I was hoping the carpark was an option. Is that the case @Boxelder?

Is this the official Dirty Reiver Thread then?

Very pleased to see the official timing bands are reduced to 9he's rather than 10, which i take to mean the parcours is 1hr easier this year?

The car park is fine for kipping in whatever form you choose, I slept in vehicle last year and will be doing the same again this year.

Fingers crossed for pleasant weather!
