I'm looking at a few more trips to BPW this year so camping will hopefully bring the costs down. Is there anything nearby,. ideally with a pub within walking distance and maybe secure bike storage for the evening? Thanks a lot.
I usually stay at talybont farm, it's about 30 mins drive from BPW, 3 pubs within walking distance and you can ride the Gap straight from the campsite on day 2.
No bike storage though. I usually take a bloody big chain and as many D-locks as I can find and leave them chained to the back of the car.
Cheers Dave, I'll check it out.
The Castle in Merthyr is not much more if there’s two of you and it’s next door to a great pub. Both being full on 1960’s wales but friendly and clean. Hotel will lock up the bike.
A twin room £55.
That campsite looks ace in today though, especially to do the gap.
Has anybody used the Grwen Camping Park?

It looks like the closest one.
I like it here....

You can get a twin room in the Premier Inn in Merthyr Tydfil for £30 a night. They're happy to let you take bikes in. In the past we've had 4 of us in a family room for the same price. I love camping, but after 12 runs you'll be happy to have a proper mattress. It's 2mins from BPW and always full of friendly bikers.
Good idea Andeh, I've never thought of that. I do like a bit of camping though, I'm a bit torn.
Is there a pub near the Premier Inn?
That is a great deal.
Air BNB has lots of options quite cheap and really close, they market themselves as close to BPW.
I got a place to sleep 5 blokes for £90 for the night earlier in the year.
Also not sure why you'd camp, the welsh sunshine would make it quite miserable! I'd hate to get caked in the wet silt/grit from BPW and then have to go back to a tent/ car and get changed and use a shower block! sounds quite snobby....oh well...
Is there a pub near the Premier Inn?
Other side of the car park (its a standard chain-pub affair)
