I've got a Campag 10 speed Veloce Compact chainset (from about 2005) that I wish to replace the inner ring on for a larger one. I'm not particularly au fait with road stuff so could anyone tell me if I just get any old Campag compatible one (like the one third down in this link http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/pp/road-track-bike/chainrings/chri )
or do I need to get one specific to a Compact chainset.
Many thanks.
compact needs compact, and i believe that campag has an unusual double bcd design, s you need a CAmpag compatible ring, TA or campag will do. Although having seen the price of older chainsets, sometimes it is cheaper to buy an old model and strip it for spares, rather than buy a chainring.
You just need the right BCD - campag is 135 compared to 130 for Shimano (unless you look at compact (which won't be 2005 IIRC) which is 110 BCD across the board)
If your chainset has one of the chainring bolts 'hidden' behind the crank arms then it's what mrmo says. If not then any compact 110bcd ring should fit.
