My first task each morning is to unload the dishwasher and put the boy's bottles into the steriliser. It's an automatic steam jobbie that takes about 6 minutes to run through a cycle. I was wondering: has anyone tried putting camelbak bits & pieces in one? I know the pipes are a sort of lined PVC material which'll go all soft, but do you think any of the other bit's woudl survive?

Just put a Milton tablet in the camelbak to clean it.

I reckon you'll melt it, +1 for the milton tablet, followed by rinse and store in the freezer.

Give denture cleaning tablets a try not as good as Milton but then you aren't drinking river water from your camelbak. Tastes much better!

I pee in mine and freeze it. Works a treat.

OK maybe that's a lie. Milton works for me but I use the liquid and just quarter a capful per 2 litres. I freeze with Milton in. Thaw and rinse. Been working for ages for me and no ebola type diseases yet. Also tried the minty denture tables I had left over from when I used to wear braces..... Don't think it's a good idea using 15 year old sterilising tablets... Think I would prefer to drink neat Milton.

Use one of these as well Link. Dirty camelbaks give you the trots, they need thoroughly cleaning.

+1 for storing in the freezer to keep the germs at bay, also helps if you only ever use plain water in the bladder

Have used the freezer before, but now prefer to dry store them. You don't need to buy a dryer, when you can make one instead

kills the germs

actually it doesn't.

storing the bag dry will help prevent any mycological growth. freezing and thawing will only serve to damage the plastic of the bag and tube

never frozen mine though but thats what i assumed is the reason some people do.
i did leave a bladder with water in for about 9 months...the tube and bladder ended up having black mould in places that wouldnt shift so i binned it and bought a new one...now it gets cleaned/sterilized every weekend

Milton Tablets and occasionally added to boiling/very water, left overnight.
Only ever use water in it
Love the lego frame but I just use a bent metal coat hanger
