I’m now fully converted to the bumbag / fanny pack / hip pack or whatever you want to call them after using my cheap Flashflo a lot recently. However, the straps on the Flashflo undo themselves on a regular basis which is a pain in the arse.

So I’m looking at something to replace it and the Repack looks ideal as from what I’ve read the strap issue has been addressed and it ticks all the boxes I need it to. Which are it needs to take a bladder and have space for tools and an emergency layer.

So confirm my thinking or recommend me something else, ta!

I’m converted as well, lost count of people moaning about backpacks at Ard Rock!

I use a dakine  hot laps 5l. Has the bladder in a separate pocket, phone pocket, tool storage and enough space to jam a tube, couple clif bars with a little room to spare. There are straps underneath it I have used to hold a gillet should the weather change.

Noticed it at first but once it was on for 20 minutes forgot it was there

Reccomended!

I have been using the 2.5 version of the 1.8 hyper  https://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/Wingnut-rucksacks  for a good few years and really like it, I like the fact that you can get at stuff without taking off the bag

I've got a Repack and it's pretty good for the money

Things wot I have noticed

1. the bladder has a bloody great big plastic handle on it, which does nothing but take up a bunch of space, and makes it awkward to get in the space it's designed for in the bag.

2. The hose clip will get lose, and you'll loose it.

3. comfy, doesn't bounce around at all.

4. carries pretty much all you need for a 2 hour ride, v little space for anything once you got tool, spares tube in there though

Thanks for the suggestions so far. The Dakine is out as it doesn't have pockets on the hips, the Evoc looks good as well but about an extra £20 with a bladder. Wingnut's out as it's got shoulder straps!

Think the Camelbak's winning so far, should get a small gilet or jacket in as I tend to strap the tube, tyre levers and CO2 to the frame anyway.

Mine has small hip pockets? Only small but they exist!

What you need a hip pocket for?

@marksnook so it has, I stand corrected. I like sticking my phone in one side and snacks in the other, it's one of the few things I like about my Skyline bag.

I’ve got a Repack and like it. Not much room for a layer once it’s full of water but you’ll get a small windproof or gilet in there if you’re stowing a tube on the bike.

Mine has a small net pocket on the right, I use it for putting energy gel/ clif bar wrappers in. Don’t reckon my phone would fit there though. I keep my phone in the fleece lined internal pocket
