I'm looking at getting myself a new backpack, needs to be smallish, with bladder, and space for tools and spare tube and snacks.

Any views on the Lobo or Raptor, or any other suggestions?

I already have a Camelbak flashflo for shorter rides, but it's rubbish when I actually use it with the bladder

I have a (very) old version of the Lobo and I found it a bit useless once filled with water - the available space was very small and the back became bulgy.

Right now I quite like the Evoc Stage 6I recently got, but I haven't used it with a bladder yet; the foam/mesh spacer on the back should avoid it becoming a round sausage when filled.

I've had a Raptor for about 6 years now. Great pack, big enough for reasonable length days out.

I like the 2 hip pockets for easy access snacks, the tool roll is really handy in it's own zipped compartment and the stretch pocket on the back is great for stuffing jackets, etc into. It's not too sweaty on the back either.

If my Raptor broke tomorrow, I'd go straight out and get another one.

I've got an Osprey Raptor 10 and find it great, can pack it small and light without it feeling big and it can cope with all day packing too.  It replaced my old MULE and is better in every way.  Fit's my back perfectly, so much so I forget it's there sometimes!  The only downside to it is the magnetic hose tidy, it picks up small magnetic stones round a few of the areas I ride.  Just takes a second to flick them off about once a ride.

Osprey Raptor gets my vote.

I have had mine for 4 years and would get another one without hesitation.

My endura singletrack has been brilliant

Waterproof phone pocket, cool, lightweight, tool roll, strap pockets

Designed to take a back protector too (20quid d30 ones are good one) for big hills

Mine was stolen & I can't find anything I'd rather replace it with

I have a Camelbak Skyline (I think its called Solstace now).

It has far more storage space than my old Lobo. Comes with a good tool roll, and a couple of hip pockets. It sits low on your back which helps with balance and bad backs. Can recommend it highly.

Buy an Osprey, I bought one ages ago & have converted my friends..

Also as far as I know Osprey don't support gun useage in the same way Camelbak do...

Looked at Deuter?    I have a Race-X, prefer it to the Camelbak Blowfish I had previously. Compatible with whatever hydration bladder you want to use in there.

I bought a Dakine Drafter near on 10 years ago.

Still haven't seen anything better, not that it'll wear out for a long, long time.

Still called the Skyline, Solstace is the Womens version I think.  I've had one for the last year or so, but the washing machine did for it and put a huge rip in it at the weekend (not sure how, but will need to be more careful in the future).  I bought it as I hoped it would help with back ache, but I'm not convinced that it was that helpful, the other issue I had with it is that the bladder hose would ride up and I'd have to keep pulling it tight again, otherwise it was pretty good.

I've just been out looking at packs this lunchtime and the Osprey looks good.  I like zipped hose compartment (solving the issue mentioned above) and the back pad looks more breathable than the Camelbak.  I'm tempted with one of these now.
