I use a 2010 Cambelbak HAWG NV as my daily backpack. It does commuting, all sorts of MTB / road biking and also travels around the country with a laptop inside.
It's getting on a bit now, so I was looking at the new HAWG NV. Is there anything else I should look at?
Any alternative must be able to take a laptop and be used a lot on the bike.

I bought a Hydrapak Jolla in the Merlin sale for #50 - I see they are now 40 which is a bargain I reckon. A bit flimsy but huge, very stable and with an infinite number of pockets and features. Good bladder too.
I'm currently using an evoc fr enduro for everything you describe.. Well apart from laptop carrying.
Plenty big enough for full days riding, I find it comfy to wear too.
