Bought a nice Camelback Skyline LR in the Merlin sale to replace my aging Mule that is wearing out after many years service.

Didn't think the check the specs of the waist belt but rather embarrasingly it is about 6" too short to go around my gut.

A bit of reading now tells me that anywhere above a 34" waist and it is tight, which ties in to what I've just found out.

Would be a shame to return it if I could get an extension piece for a few quid but I don't fancy mesing around cutting stitching etc to put a new belt and buckle in.

Anybody found a buckle that is compatible with the LR wider belts on Camelbacks?

The other option is to take the buckle off one side, fasten it to the other side then put a new belt and buckle set from the now exposed existing belt to the other end with the pair of original buckls on to extend it.

Same buckle on your Mule?

If so you could cannibalise that?

Unfortunately not. The low rider waist band is a lot thicker.

Will look around today for a simple-ish solution. If I don’t find one, shall probably sent it back.

Shouldn’t need a whole extra buckle, just use a triglide to thread in an extra strap to extend on one one side

Cheers ninfan. Have just ordered a bunch of bits and will have a play.

However, having just fitted it properly filled with water and my tools etc, it does actually fit ok with the straps as is.*

Initially I had just thrown it on and decided that the strap should go straight around the widest bit of me but, it doesn't.

When it is sat properly it's much lower down than the old Mule and fits superbly. Can't believe the difference to be honest and even with a full 3l of water it sits very solidly around my lower back.

Will be going for a ride tomorrow and give it a proper test.

*fits properly yes, but also shows off my excessively large belly. Not a good look but will use it as further incentive to lose weight. 🙂
