Anyone doing this or done it previously? Mainly doing it since Mrs M is doing the 50 with a friend. Route appears to be flat as the proverbial, any ideas if it's a well-attended event usually or am I going to be out on those flat roads on my own?? Website all looks quit understated almost as if it might go unnoticed.

I live north of Cambridge so ride the roads on that route. As you noticed it is pancake flat but don't let that fool you. If it's windy and you don't get in a group it will be brutal on the flat Fens. I head south or east wherever possible as the riding in the Fens is dull unless your a masochist.
I think I saw the event last year and it looked fairly well attended.

Yeah I'm already starting to pray for still conditions! No current plans to ride with anyone so hopefully I can get into a group as you say. The route goes pretty much straight up north from Cambridge;-) cheers for the reply.

I did the Arrow sportive from Grantham last year as it took in a 30 mile stretch of the Fens where I was brought up.

Ended up on my own for that stretch, somehow. Wasn't that windy but was utterly soul destroying, flat straight roads. I have never felt so glad to see a "hill" - all things being relative - as when that bit finished.

I did the 50 a couple of years back and a mate did the 100, he said he really wanted it to end after 60. Seem to recall it being quite slender on numbers when I did it, but that was the first year I think so likely grown in popularity a bit since then.

Good luck 🙂

he said he really wanted it to end after 60

Had he done a ride that long before though? Or was it down to the crushing boredom? I've done a similar distance a couple of times but always with the added "frisson" of inclines...

I am thinking about doing it solo. Lived in Cambridge my whole life. Fancy a crack at a century having previously done 81. Lost a couple of stone since then.

Website? I live just down the road, so may be tempted.

*I'm also too lazy to search myself...
