I've just been offered my old, leaky XT brakes back, so thought I'd rebuild them. Northwind, you spoke of being able to order replacement callipers and pads and using the replacement callipers for parts.

How do you replace the seal, is it a simple matter of popping the pistons out of old + new callipers and simply picking the seals out? Anything else I need to watch for?

Cheers

Yes - that would be how you do it. You need a cheap calliper with the same size pistons

Actually, given the price of the pimpy new SLX callipers with finned pads, I might just get them and plumb them in, seems less hassle and I get the bigger pistons etc. Wonder if they'll work with the old levers...

Newest Icetech calipers only work with the new levers I'm afraid.
