My new job will be at Port Sunlight, and l fancy commuting at least there, or from work a few days a week. I will be coming from Wrexham direction, and want the most direct, but traffic free route possible (avoiding the A41 for instance)

Any suggestions?

Alternatively, what's the A41 like for riding on?

If it was me, I'd be using NCR 5/Wirral Way to get up to Parkgate, then cut across the Wirral on NCR 56 to Bromborough. It's all well surfaced cycle path until NCR 56 which is mostly on minor B roads.

I'd avoid the A41, it's a major road and very busy.

Sounds complicated but quite nice route...

If you can get to Saltney, cross the River Dee at Saltney Ferry (footbridge) then:
Blacon
Saughall
Lodge Lane, go westwards(takes you over A494)
Woodbank Lane, go northwards (takes you to the A540)
Ledsham
You can get to Eastham Ferry along nice country roads (Childer Thornton)
From Eastham Ferry there is an off-road cycle path to Port Sunlight but I've not done that bit (yet!).

Most of these are quiet roads, all doable on a r*@d bike.
