It's been a while, it seems, since any form of forum ride has been done. So, fellow bimblers, out you come.

50km-ish, bimbling around bridleways and tracks, up a bit, down a bit, along a bit, sandwich on the way, finish with a pint, that sort of thing. Good old-fashioned BimbleJayCoreXC type of stuff. probably early in September-ish

Any interest?

Think we'll be down that way first week in October anyway, any more details around on the jennride? We've not made it to one yet so it would be great if dates permitted.

Well, looks like this could be a go-er 🙂

This years Cotswold Jennride in early October, Starting/finish in Sheepscombe, for some classic trails.

I can't do early October unfortunately, we're away, but hopefully there's enough demand for a Bimble and a Jennride maybe?

From looking at The Calendar That Knows All in the kitchen, I can lead a Bimble on either the weekends of the 2/3rd Sept or 16/17 Sept. Any takers for those dates, and any preference as to which?

It means no racing snakes, no gnnarrr-shredding, no weekend warriors. Think of it as pony trekking, but on a bike. Will be CX-able (but might be a bit rattly at times) and fatbike-able (but might be a bit roady at times).

Faster folks will wait for slower folks or, ideally, just ride slower. If Junior BOB can ride for about four, maybe five, hours at a steady, sociable pace, he/she will be laughing.

If there's loads of us we'll employ a rolling sweeper; first to a gate/junctions waits for everyone to go through whilst holding the gate/pointing the way, then rides at the back as sweeper. That way we don't lose anyone and those at the back have a continually changing selection of folks to chat too 🙂

I'll confirm a date today.

It's the 17th September people. That's the 17th September

Start/route TBC. There's a strong chance it will start in Cirencester, then I can have a couple of pints at the end before wobbling home 🙂

😯

Yeah, er form an orderly queue...

I just want to make it clear that a ride of between 40 and 150(!) miles to get to the start is not expected of all Bimblers. It is perfectly acceptable, indeed some would say normal, to arrive in a car (Audi, obvs. Or VW T5. We have standards)

HA! You're not fooling me. I've ridden in Cirencester area before, it was MOUNTAINOUS! (at least, that one particular hill climb was, hilly).

From Carterton. It all looks like country lanes on the map, and Google reckons it'll be about a 90ish minutes ride (although i'm not sure what speed that is calculated on).

About thirteen mile an hour I reckon 🙂 Flattish from that direction, you'll probably wish you had a harder gear...

Right-o bimblers, route plotted. 40km-ish, or 26 mile-ish if you like to take back control of your units of measurement.

Start in the centre of Cirencester, on the market place, by the church, more details nearer the time.

If you go to the OS Maps site, you might be able to get this to work:

https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/route/1501152/-STW-Cotswold-Bimble-17th-Sept
