You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
It's been a while, it seems, since any form of forum ride has been done. So, fellow bimblers, out you come.
50km-ish, bimbling around bridleways and tracks, up a bit, down a bit, along a bit, sandwich on the way, finish with a pint, that sort of thing. Good old-fashioned BimbleJayCoreXC type of stuff. probably early in September-ish
Any interest?
Crap, wrong forum. Sorry...
Ummm - potentially. dates depending and so on. might even make a weekend of it.
Fat bike slow or skinny mtb slow?
Super idea. Doubt I'll be able to make it, but I'll try.
If I'm not away in Snowdonia I may be well interest...
Yeah I'm interested in that.
Nice, fancy that. This years Cotswold Jennride in early October, Starting/finish in Sheepscombe, for some classic trails.
Can I just come for the pint?
yes i'd be up for it depending on dates. 🙂
If it's not the 2nd/3rd September, probably, yes.
would love to join a group bimble , working weekends though up till 3rd week in sept so if the dates fit ill be there along with plenty of black country pork pies
Count me in.
Yeah - count me in as well 😆
Date/Calendar dependant obv's!
Think we'll be down that way first week in October anyway, any more details around on the jennride? We've not made it to one yet so it would be great if dates permitted.
Yes, depending on dates.
Sounds right up my bimblage that does, date dependant, obvs.
mebbiz.
Yeah I might be up for that as well, not a million miles away, can I still come if I have a pint of diet coke?!
Would love to if I get the all clear from the Mrs. Bimbling is the way forward.
I might ride down for this if I'm well enough and I'm allowed. Is it' crossbike'able?
Keep in touch , might be nice to go back to the old fashioned way of organising rides .
It's a yes from me.
This sounds great! 😀
I'd be in, but probably highly calendar dependant.
I'll come if I'm around.
I'm in.
I had to look up the word bimble as i'd never come across it before. Is it used much anywhere ?
For me, early September will be unlikely, middle & end doable except for w/e 23rd.
Well, looks like this could be a go-er 🙂

I can't do early October unfortunately, we're away, but hopefully there's enough demand for a Bimble and a Jennride maybe?
From looking at The Calendar That Knows All in the kitchen, I can lead a Bimble on either the weekends of the 2/3rd Sept or 16/17 Sept. Any takers for those dates, and any preference as to which?
Yeah, always wanted to do one of these. In depending on dates. Can do 2/3 Sept 😀
sorry im out cant make either dates dam this 4 on 4off shift pattern
Can make either of those, have a sportive the weekend inbetween so timed it perfectly.
I'm in for the 16th & 17th
2/3 = maybe
16/17 = yes
Ah bugger. The missus autumn tri calendar says no 🙁
depending which weekend I may be interested.
can do the sunday of either, work saturdays 😐
Would also be interested in this. Either date suits me.
can do the sunday of either, work saturdays
Ditto
Interested, can prob make either weekend but please define 'bimble', I may bring junior BOB
On dialysis Saturdays 😮
^ 🙁 - hope it's going as well as it can be?
Happy with either date - would prefer the later one as it gets me more time to get fit!
please define 'bimble', I may bring junior BOB
It means no racing snakes, no gnnarrr-shredding, no weekend warriors. Think of it as pony trekking, but on a bike. Will be CX-able (but might be a bit rattly at times) and fatbike-able (but might be a bit roady at times).
Faster folks will wait for slower folks or, ideally, just ride slower. If Junior BOB can ride for about four, maybe five, hours at a steady, sociable pace, he/she will be laughing.
If there's loads of us we'll employ a rolling sweeper; first to a gate/junctions waits for everyone to go through whilst holding the gate/pointing the way, then rides at the back as sweeper. That way we don't lose anyone and those at the back have a continually changing selection of folks to chat too 🙂
I'll confirm a date today.
Can't make that first weekend, We're only 50-50 for the second - would love to come down but can't commit at the moment. Great idea though Nettles, nice one
Will there be any hi fiving or people saying dude, if not I fancy tagging along.
Will there be any hi fiving or people saying dude
Good lord, no. There may be a gentlemanly handshake and a wishing of good morrow, but that will be all.
sargey - MemberWill there be any hi fiving or people saying dude
No way bro. 😉
Excellent, I can ride to the start!
From Brizzle?! You did read the 'no racing snakes' bit, yeah?
I can do any date. Anybody from Manchester area fancy a ride down, round and back again?
Anybody from Manchester area fancy a ride down, round and back again?
😯
Yeah, er form an orderly queue...
I just want to make it clear that a ride of between 40 and 150(!) miles to get to the start is not expected of all Bimblers. It is perfectly acceptable, indeed some would say normal, to arrive in a car (Audi, obvs. Or VW T5. We have standards)
Interesting, interesting I may be able to make the 17th as noted.
I'll keep track, and hopefully get some fitness back!
and hopefully get some fitness back!
For what?
HA! You're not fooling me. I've ridden in Cirencester area before, it was MOUNTAINOUS! (at least, that one particular hill climb was, hilly).

I did - "no racing snake" is quite an apt description of me.
Have a good one guys
Mmm. Trying to decide if 20 miles each way is 'riding distance' for a chunky singlespeeder...
Where from Duffer?
From Carterton. It all looks like country lanes on the map, and Google reckons it'll be about a 90ish minutes ride (although i'm not sure what speed that is calculated on).
About thirteen mile an hour I reckon 🙂 Flattish from that direction, you'll probably wish you had a harder gear...
Think I'm in for the 17th. Not too early a start I hope
Might be able to make if not pressganged into horse towing duties. Can I bring an 11 speed 29er gnarpoon ?

For what?
Riding a bike without getting tired or sore or knackered.
A start in Ciren suits me perfect! Looking forward to it.
Might be able to make if not pressganged into horse towing duties.
It'd be lovely to catch up, dear boy! Hope all is well.
All good here old bean, apart from being too fat and rad that is!! hope all is well your end.
Can I bring an 11 speed 29er gnarpoon ?
As long as you promise not to shred it, and there will be positively no hucking.
Yep, my sort of ride that one!
Just so's you know, I've not forgotten about this, route updates to come.
The wife has booked us a holiday on the 20th of September so I have to decide whether it's worth risking the 10,000ft descent in ihn's first picture. 😀
Right-o bimblers, route plotted. 40km-ish, or 26 mile-ish if you like to take back control of your units of measurement.
Start in the centre of Cirencester, on the market place, by the church, more details nearer the time.
If you go to the OS Maps site, you might be able to get this to work:
https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/route/1501152/-STW-Cotswold-Bimble-17th-Sept
There's a chance I can make this too.
Will confirm the day before
IHN - what sort of time are you thinking to start?
Bah, can't do the 17th. Interesting loop, might be able to include some of that in my commute to Barnsley.
IHN - what sort of time are you thinking to start?
About 10:00 I'd have thought, but will confirm
I am going to try and make this, will be on the fat bike so please make allowances
