Anyone else have a problem with their frame creaking from the BB area? Mine is getting worse to the point of embaressment on group rides. I have taken drive train off and reassembled with copperslip to no avail. To be honest I couldn't get the external bb bearing cups out so it could be that this is the source of the noise. The bearings turned ok to finger pressure so they seem to be ok but who knows when there is body weight being put through them?

Cheers

How come you can't remove the cups? as they must be the easiest BB system to undo.
But no mines as quiet a church mouse, FSA Carbon Team cranks on Shimano Dura Ace Octalink.

Same thing happened on my PX Stealth. If you're SURE it's the BB creaking, I suggest you ask your LBS to remove the cups (if you seriously can't do it yourself) and face the BB shell for you.

That happened to mine and it was just so loud. Cause of mine, cracked my rear rim. New wheels sorted it out

I'm wondering if the BB cups were installed without any anti-seize compound. I've ordered a HTII socket to try instead of the wrench that I have. Been drbbling oil round the joint in the hope it will seep in and help lube the joint. I can get more leverage with a socket wrench.

I've tightened chain ring bolts, greased the bb spindle, copperslip on joints and tightened. Oiled, greased and tightened pedals. So just leaves the bb bearings or the joint itself. Frame looks undamaged externally anyway. And no reason other thN me being a fatty why the frame should be damaged.

I had the same problem after about 40 miles from new, and was convinced it was the bottom bracket. It turned out to to be the rear wheel hub on the cheap and nasty Model B wheels.
