Just seen that GoOutdoors are doing the Calibre Dark Peak for £449 at the moment which seems a steal for the money. Anyone got one and can provide a real world review?
Off.road.cc gave it a decent review but it'd be good to hear how people have found it long term.
Anyone?
Bump for the year later crowd?
Seen this. I like my Dune. Too many bikes isn't possible right?
The calibre lost lad would be my choice.
Also consider the Merlin options, e.g.

Ooh, hadn't seen that. Only got xl unfortunately, and I'm more....conservatively-proportioned.
Had one for a couple of years. got nicked a couple of months ago. I loved it for what it was. A few things (that they may have sorted now), toe overlap was an issue for me (I do have size12 feet though). the mech blew up when it got a bit sloppy.
Other than that it was wicked for just getting out and riding what you wanted. took it down some relatively feisty mtb routes which was hairy. pretty quick ish on the road. quite comfy but was more on the road side of geometry.
I've got a Kinesis G2 now which is wicked but I do miss the flat bar brake levers on the dark peak for casual jaunts to the shops with a back pack etc.
Go outdoors are part of the same chain as Millets, Blacks, ultimate outdoors (?), etc and sometimes they have bikes available on one site and not another...
