As title really, is it possible to calculate reach from other numbers, and if so which ones?
Looking at hard tail frames and whyte 29c has perfect geo, but they don't do a mid spec version. Canyon exceed has perfect spec but looks a bit short in top tube so trying to compare reach to my current ff29 which isn't a number kinesis give.
Cheers
There is an online calculator that will do it, just Google bike geometry calculator
so trying to compare reach to my current ff29 which isn't a number kinesis give.
Can't you get a tape measure out and measure it?
Nice one thanks guys.
As a quick guide for getting a simple number, Reach will generally be between the following numbers:
ETT + ((90 - SA)*10)
and
ETT + ((90 - SA)*11)
Where everything is in mm. Short stack bikes tend towards '10', longer travel towards 11. Its certainly not a hard and fast rule, but its about right for most normal bike designs.
That's the one I was thinking of
Sorry I meant ETT-(...)
That's a very handy rule of thumb Ben, works well!
Thanks! I should point out you need virtual seat angle, actual seat angle is often meaningless in terms of geo.
