You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi All
I'm trying to find a good route map for a 3-4 day tour of the cairgorms. Has anyone got any good links or blogs about this epic ?
also any tips greatly received.. bothy spots, pubs etc..
thinking about doing it in May - Is it Midge free then ?
Thanks
Gareth.
Early may should be fine. Starting to get into midge season later in may. Depends on the spring really
We are working on a new Cairngorms loop, about 150km and 5000m of vertical need to do some recce's but it will be one of the toughest multi day trips going. hopefully pretty epic though.
I reckon early may too, may have to do a bit of snow riding with our route though.
Vertebrate graphics Scotland mtb guidebook has got a 4 day loop in.
We did a circuit this September starting and finishing in Blair Atholl and staying in Aviemore and Braemar. I logged the 3 days into walkjogrun.net. You can find them by typing in the start location (Blair Atholl, Loch Morlich and Braemar) and looking for TCC. It is very similar to the route from the Vertebrate Graphics book.
You get a real feel for being in the wild at times but it is not technically challenging with a max 15-20% singletrack. If it has been raining prepare to get your feet wet crossing the burns - we did!
