Hi,
Looking to do a leisurely 3 day ride in the Cairngorms. Either wild camping or staying at Bothies.
Distance wise probably about 30miles a day.
I’ve searched the forum and the web, plus bought some books, but the only route that I’ve found thus far is the Cairngorm Loop.
I was planning on making up my own route but without knowing the area or terrain it’s a bit of a lottery.
Grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks.
As regards the Cairngorms Loop route, there are various options you could consider. There's a Northern, a Southern, an Inner and an Outer. Between them they cover all of the major throughways and anything you come up with will inevitably be on the same tracks.
Sections of the Inner/Northern loops can be pretty hard work depending on bike choice, so I'd start with that before route planning.
Thanks. That’s very helpful.
Aviemore to Braemar via Tomintoul day 1 outer?
day2 Braemar to Blair Atholl via Tilt and avoiding Fealar climb on official CL.
day3 BA to Aviemore via Gaick.
Mostly Landy track and nothing overly technical in the main. Still biggish days (for me anyway).
Looks good!
Thanks i’ll take a look at your suggestion
