I'm hoping to have a go at Cadair Idris tomorrow if the weather holds.

(It was raining earlier but this evening on a quick blast around CyB it was perfect cycling weather!)

We're staying in Dolgellau - is it possible to get across to the bridleway from there or should we just drive round to the other side?

Happy to push/carry.

Snowdon is a far more entertaining and scenic mountain imo.

Love the ride myself (both of them).

Drive round to the other side. Don't miss the left hand turn off the fire road on the way back down 🙂

If you are going to drive round to Abergynolwyn then you've got all of the dyfi forest to go at instead. Honestly it's a boring mountain. 😀

A crap field covered in sheep shit rather than a boring fire road.
How do you contain your excitment.
Top bit of Cadair is OK the rest is shite.

Rode it a few months ago in good weather, loved it. Big loose rocks on the top bit, then the rest is fast and flowy down. Some nice slidey grassy hairpins to drift. The bloke above obviously wasn't going fast enough 😉
It's a long way up and all the down done pretty quick. Great little adventure though.

No matter how fast you go a shit grassy field is always a shit grassy field.
If a wanted to drift on a field I'd buy a grasstrack bike.😁

Not the most technical ride, but worth doing and cracking views if clear. I'd go round incidentally.

PonyPath. A push up, most entertaining down. Choose your time well.

That path is the way we used to go up/down without any questions back in the late 80's
The steps were a handful on a Diamond Back with Exage plastic cantis...
Jumpers for goalpost isn't it wasn't it.

Horses for courses @Singlespeedstu.

I like the rocky bit at the top, I enjoy the long rutty bit, then the gentle grassy down. On my hardtail or full susser.

Most of all, it's a day out on the bike. Not everything has to be the most rad gnar ever. I've even been known to enjoy canal towpaths, in between trips to the alps.

It's all good 🙂

Excellent day out!

Went up to Cadair Idris, reached the top after a few light showers; just fog with occasional glimpses, but a bit further down below the cloud level plenty of great views.

Yeah, the crap field covered in sheep shit: who'd want to do that, terrible. Stay well away from it is my advice.

So me and @oldnpastit went for it and had a great day out in the mountains. An awesome place to be. Lots of fun coming down especially the top 300m or so and the gulley on the grassy bit down to the bridge over steam was a fully flowing river! Great fun

Yeah, steepest bit down that gully to the river. Is there still a fallen tree across it or has that been cleared now?

Really enjoy Cadair. 🙂
