You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Just looking at the feature in Singletrack issue 80 & really like the look of riding this mountain. Just wanna know is it mainly a push up or is a lot of it rideable (approaching from the South as per mag article).
Thanks guys
did it in November
Not sure which way up we went though but it was about most of it was ridable, some bits futher up were a bit more challenging mind..
took us a couple of hours up and about 25 minutes down!
There's only one bridleway up it and it's 95% rideable- it's not a technical ride at all, but it's fast and good fun. It's certainly the easiest mountain to bike I've done.
On the way up use the landrover track as much as you can, but on the way up keep an eye out on your right for the singletrack that you will take instead on the way down.
The views that Pete got from the top are a rarity by the way, this is what it looked like at the top for us-
Although it's usually nicer further down-
I'd go with about 85% rideable on the way up.
There's a couple of sections with very loose rocks that are hard to get up and the very top bit's a carry.
We got a great view from the top.

I did it with MartynS, oo-er
Like he said, most of it is rideable, the bottom two thirds at least definitely so (if a bit of a lung burner). The top third gets increasingly steep/nadgery/loose, so you will get to a point where you give up and push/carry.
Properly good fun though, it's a proper adventure 🙂
I don't remember much being rideable up or down but it was in 1994 and I was on a rigid steel Stumpjumper, in fact I don't remember much that went on in the 90s...
That picture is exactly how it wasn't when we did it 🙁
Stu - is that a Camber and a Yelli?? If so, by coincidence that's my full-suss 29er and hardtail 29er! Which was quicker up and down Cadair??
the very top bit's a carry.
But did you ride down the very top bit? I was tempted, but it's a long way to hospital/bike shop for new mech from there 🙂
FWIW I wouldn't bother unless its been dry for a while, when the rock runs out on the way down it's very pedally to keep a decent speed up in the wet.

Great ride, hadly needed a route guide though, there's only one, obvious, way up and down!
But did you ride down the very top bit? I was tempted, but it's a long way to hospital/bike shop.
I was with the owner of one of the local bike shops and no we didn't ride it.
You'd need more than a hospital if you went off to the right. 😯
is that a Camber and a Yelli??
Mine's the yelli not sure what the Spech is. Think it's a stumpjumper or something.
Which was quicker up and down Cadair??
The owner of the spech is faster up and down most things than me on any bike.
