Cable stuck in GRX shifter

My shifter has stopped working, and I'm trying to get the cable out so I can replace it. When I click up or down the tension on the cable doesn't change.
I've taken off the little panel on the inside side of the shifter, and as far as I can see the cable is sitting in the groove in the little reel thing. But I can't see the head on the outside. I'm trying to push it out the way it went in but it won't budge whether I push or pull it.
Anyone had this, and if so what did you do to sort it out?

Frayed cable jamming is the most common (the fail annoying close the head on modern Shimano road shifters)

You can remove the bottom cover to improve access, then normally use a seal pick to tease out the remains.

(part 7 is the cover I would suggest removing to see more)
