Just picked up a on one scandal last week, pre built from planet x. All great apart from quite a noise from cable rattle. It is from the rear brake and seatpost cable rattling around the insert hole in the frame mainly due to the cable being smaller than the holes. Just wondered if anyone has any tips or advice or links to things that you can use. Thanks
If it's the down tube you are talking about ,drop the forks and ram a pair of tights down the hole.
Better than faffing with the foam cable covers.
Zip tie together and electrical tape wrapped to pad out the gap? If you can't find a suitable grommet from ebay etc
Seems mainly rattle where the cable inserts in the downtube. Hole bigger than cable. Cable can move a fair bit.
Are the black inserts in there? Mine are quite a tight fit in the inserts and there's no noticeable rattle. Could you just wrap a bit of electrical tape round the cable to upp it's diameter a fraction?
Doesn't seem to be any rubber inserts in there. No sure where you can buy them from...or which ones fit.
I'd ask planet X. It should have guides where the cable enters the frame. It's not been built correctly if they are missing. You may have to disconnect cables etc. to fit them. This would be easier to understand with a photo.
As stated above, there should generally be a grommet to stop cables rattling - all the frames I've had with internal cable droppers have had them.
Planet X should send you one, but it does mean removing cables to fit it.
Maybe use some Sugru to fashion one in place, or you could use self-amalgamating rubber tape.
